Frequently Asked Questions
Frequently asked questions
Clarity. Confidence. Care.
At Floyd Lebatie Physiotherapy, we believe exceptional care begins with clear communication.
Below are answers to the most common questions — tailored to ensure you feel informed and empowered at every step of your journey.
What is physiotherapy at Floyd Lebatie Physio?
Physiotherapy here is not just treatment — it’s transformation. Guided by our philosophy of 'Engineering Movement', we assess and correct the root causes of pain, dysfunction, and underperformance. Our elite team uses advanced diagnostics, hands-on expertise, and tailored rehabilitation to restore your optimal movement — whether for sport, work, or everyday life. This is physiotherapy for those who demand precision, progress, and lasting results.
Do you accept medical aid?
We operate on a pay-and-claim model for all sessions — except under
the Discovery Conservative Spinal Care Programme.
In this case only, we accept medical aid payments directly, subject to
acceptance into the program and applicable Ts&Cs. For all other
patients, fees are settled at the time of treatment, with invoices
provided for self-claiming. Please note that you remain responsible for
full payment, regardless of benefit availability.
What payment methods are accepted?
We accept cash, debit cards, and credit cards (Visa/Mastercard). EFT payment can be arranged for corporate clients upon request.
Do I need a referral to book an appointment?
No referral is needed. Our physiotherapists are first-line healthcare providers, trained to assess, diagnose, and treat without prior GP or specialist input.
When should I seek treatment after an injury?
Immediately. Early intervention can dramatically improve outcomes, prevent secondary complications, and accelerate your return to full function. Don’t delay — your recovery starts now.
Will I have to stop training or exercising?
In most cases, no. Our goal is to keep you moving safely. If temporary rest is required, we’ll guide you with a customised, modified training plan to maintain strength and conditioning during recovery.
Do you only treat sports injuries?
No. We treat a comprehensive range of conditions — from high-level sports injuries to postural strain, arthritis, nerve pain, post-operative recovery, and more. Whether you’re an elite athlete or desk-bound professional, we personalise your care to meet your needs.
How many sessions will I need?
Treatment volume depends on your condition and goals. As a guide:
> Acute or mild issues: 2–4 sessions
> Chronic, complex, or post-operative cases: 6–12+ sessions
In post-surgical cases, long-term rehabilitation is often required to ensure a safe and effective return to sport or normal activity. This is guided by surgical protocols, rehabilitation milestones, and patient-
specific outcomes.
What should I bring to my first appointment?
Prior to your consultation, please complete our online intake form and upload the following documents where applicable:
>Any referral notes
>Relevant imaging reports (MRI, X-ray, CT, etc.)
>List of current medications (if applicable)
What time should I arrive?
Arrive 15 minutes early to allow time for check-in, ensuring you receive your full consultation duration with your physiotherapist.
What is your cancellation policy?
Cancellations must be made at least 24 hours in advance. Late cancellations or missed appointments will be charged in full out of respect for clinician time and other patients awaiting care.
Do you treat patients under 18?
Yes. A signed consent form from a parent or guardian is required prior to the first appointment.

There was a group of us and what stood out most for me was how Floyd assessed each of our progress during the class. He guided us based on our individual pace and strength, making the session feel tailored and supportive. The ice bath was exhilarating and refreshing, that definitely the highlight of the day!
Highly recommended for anyone looking to recharge, recover, or simply explore new wellness practices.
I am currently recovering from spinal surgery with paralysis. Floyd & his team spent time developing a specific recovery plan for my body. They were extremely patient and showed kindness and compassion throughout the entire evaluation.
I actually now look forward to sessions with the team as we move towards specific goals set.
Their attention to detail was absolutely amazing.
I appreciate their goal orientated mindset.
Thank you so much
